Lucien Arkas was born in Izmir in 1945 and graduated from Saint Joseph\u2019s French High School, Istanbul.<\/p>\n

He entered the business world in 1964 at the Lucien Arkas Shipping Agency and he continues to this day as Chairman of Arkas Holding and its companies.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he holds the following positions:<\/p>\n

  • Member of the Turkish Industry & Business Association (TUSIAD)<\/li>\n
  • Member of the Board of Directors of BIMCO<\/li>\n
  • Treasurer of the Maritime Transporters\u2019 Association-Izmir<\/li>\n
  • Member of the Aegean Industrialists\u2019 and Businessmen\u2019s Association (ESIAD)<\/li>\n
  • Chairman of the Orion Education Foundation<\/li>\n
  • Chairman of the \u201cBizim Okul\u201d Education Health and Culture Foundation<\/li>\n
  • Member of the Board of the Vasarely Foundation for Art<\/li>\n
  • Member of the Global Relations Forum (GRF)<\/li>\n
  • Member of the Alsancak Rotary Club<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Lucien Arkas serves as the French Government\u2019s Foreign Trade Commercial Counsellor and has also been honored as:<\/p>\n

    • Officer of the French National Order of Merit<\/li>\n
    • Knight of the French Legion of Honor<\/li>\n
    • Officer of the Italian Republic\u2019s Order of Merit<\/li>\n
    • Knight of the Republic of Austria\u2019s Gro\u00dfes Silbernes Order of Merit<\/li>\n
    • Doctor <\/em>Honoris Causa<\/em> by Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      He is fluent in French, English, Italian and Greek.<\/p>\n
